MESSAGES and SPEECHES
from
At Formal Inauguration of Cardiac Care & Research Centre |
|
Founder’s message |
|
Dear
Friends, Countrymen and Well-wishers,
It
gives me great pleasure in conveying my sincere thanks to one and all
who had helped us in every way in setting up this Medical College,
Hospital and now this Cardiac centre. I am extremely grateful to our
beloved Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for consenting to come over and
formally Inaugurate this Medical College, Hospital and the Cardiac
centre.
It
has always been my wish to have a Medical college for Women, who were
always the oppressed lot in this country, and by starting such an
institution, we would be able to get our women folk to come up in life
like any other member of the society.
By
building this Hospital in West Dhanmondi, than in Gulshan, my intention
is to help these poor men and women in and around this locality, by
providing jobs for them and giving them and their family medical cover
any time they want. As this organization is totally a one man funded
one, there has always been a constraint in giving completely free
treatment to all these people. But it has been the policy of this
organization to render free medical cover for about ten percent of these
people and a substantial discount to the rest of them.
Since
the beginning of 1999, when the Cardiac Centre was started, we have been
trying to offer our people discounted charges, compared to what they
would have to spend if they go abroad. We have tried our level best to
keep the cost of treatment low by providing discounts to those who
cannot afford the treatment. Our aim is to provide treatment to all
those who come to our centre.
As
Bangladesh imports most of the Medical equipments, instruments,
disposables and medicines from abroad, it becomes imperative that the
cost of treatment using all these, does escalate. Hence, if the
Government brings down the import duty, Tax, Surcharge and VAT for
medical equipments, and life saving drugs, then it would help us in
cutting down the cost of this treatment considerably.
I
would be failing in my duty, if 1 do not thank all my Medical students,
Doctors, Nursing staff. Paramedical staff, the ancillary staff, and my
construction workers, who had helped in building this Institution to
what it is today. I now leave it to them to maintain the standard of
medical education and care and raise it to greater heights, so as to
provide the people of Bangladesh with a complete hospital of
international standard
Now
that we have Undergraduate Medical education, what we are looking
forward is, to develop a super specialty training centre and provide
training to our local Doctors in these fields, where our country is
still lagging behind.
As
our country lacks trained postoperative nursing staff, we have started
training students in graduate nursing. And as their command on the
English language has not been up to the mark, we are starting the
classes by giving them a crash course in English first, followed by the
regular nursing course.
In
near future we would like this whole campus to become a centre of
excellence in Medical education and training and develop it into a
Deemed University. Before the end of 2001 we should be able to make this
Hospital a health provider of one of the best facilities in South Asia.
